BackEarly sexual maturity and age at first kindling in a broiler rabbit doe at CSWRI Avikanagar

A White Giant doe (W-6490) born on 2-9-2012 at CSWRI Rabbit Unit at Avikanagar. The doe was mated at the age of 138 days after attaining a body weight of 3.0 kg on 18-1-2013. The same doe kindled (delivered) 6 healthy kits weighing 340 g at the age of 5 and a half months and is producing 100 to 140 g milk per day for the kits. Extra ordinary performance has been achieved by this doe well before reaching adulthood which is normally achieved at the age of 184-244 days. Early kindling of doe increase the reproductive efficiency, lifetime production as well as saving on cost of rearing. This will help in increasing broiler rabbit production in the country.
