BackSRRC, ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur organized a three days self-sponsored training program on broiler rabbit farming

 Southern Regional Research Centre (SRRC) of ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur organized three days self-sponsored Hands-on training program for broiler rabbit farmers on “Technological Updates in Profitable Broiler Rabbit Production” during 25-27, August 2022, wherein twelve (12) farmers from Erode, Villupuram, Theni, Madurai, Krishnagiri, Coimbatore, Sivaganga and Kanyakumari districts attended. This is the third in the training series, planned for the year 2022-23.

The training program was inaugurated on 25.08.2022. Dr.P.Thirumurugan, Officer Incharge, SRRC, Mannavanur welcomed & oriented the trainees about the program and thanked Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-CSWRI for his encouragement and support in conducting this training series. Overall, the training was executed in “Hands-on” manner by the scientific & technical staff of SRRC. All the facets of rabbit production management viz., feeding, breeding, health, shelter, marketing & other aspects of the management were updated to the trainees in the theory sessions and all the practical sessions viz., rabbit handling, restraining, sexing & breeding techniques, pregnancy diagnosis, broiler rabbit slaughter techniques & primal cuts, post mortem examination, nest-box management, record keeping and drug administration were taught in Hands-on” manner.

Dr.A.S.Rajendiran, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar delivered guest lectures on 26.08.2022. Dr.Rajendiran shared his vast experience in rabbitry to the trainees in online lecture. TANUVAS Faculty members, Dr.Sivakumar, K., Professor & Head, Department of Livestock Production Management, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal and Dr. Thiruvenkadan, A.K., Professor and Head, Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem, delivered guest lectures on overall management and breeding aspects in rabbitry. Valedictory session of the program was held on 27.08.2022 in the presence of TANUVAS professors, Dr. Sivakumar and Dr.Thiruvenkadan.  Dr.P.Thirumurugan, Officer Incharge, SRRC, Mannavanur chaired the session and evaluated the participants on the knowledge update after training which was found very good. He also obtained their feedback on the training program which was highly satisfactory. Dr.S.Jegaveera Pandian, Sr. Scientist presented the training report and coordinated the entire training program.
