A farmer-scientist meeting and free distribution of blankets to the registered Scheduled Caste farmers of Malpura sheep project under Network Project on Sheep Improvement (NWPSI) was organized at sector 18 of AGB Division of ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar on 31.01.2024.  In this programme twenty Scheduled Caste BPL farmers from 11 villages of the project area have been benefited with the blankets manufactured at CSWRI. Dr. P K Mallick, PI Malpura sheep project (NWPSI) welcomed Dr. Arun Kumar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar as well as other participants and farmers from different villages. He talked in details about the Malpura breed improvement programme being carried out in the farmers field. Dr Tomar explained the role of the Institute in genetic improvement of different breeds as well as importance of scientific sheep rearing. He stressed upon the need to protect the animal from the cold during the winter.  During the interactive meet, farmers raised different health related issues of their sheep. Director CSWRI suggested that the affected animal should be properly diagnosed by the CSWRI health experts for their effective treatment. Dr. Prakash Sharma, Assistant Professor, PGIVER, Jaipur was also present in this meeting. Dr. P. K. Mallick, Pr. Scientist (AG&B) and Principal Investigator of Malpura sheep project coordinated the programme and thanked the officials and farmers who have attended the meeting.
