BackSRRC (ICAR-CSWRI), Mannavanur organized a three days training program on broiler rabbit farming on the eve of its 58th Foundation Day



 Southern Regional Research Centre (SRRC) of ICAR-CSWRI, Mannavanur on the eve of its 58th Foundation Day (16.11.2022) organized a three days paid training program for broiler rabbit farmers on “Technological Updates in Profitable Broiler Rabbit Production” during 16-18, November 2022, wherein ten (10) farmers from Kanyakumari, Madurai, Chennai, Cuddalore, Virudhunagar, Tiruvannamalai, Erode and Thanjavur districts attended. This is the fourth in the training series, planned for the year 2022-23.

The foundation day event & the training program were inaugurated on 16.11.2022 and the event was virtually presided by Dr Arun Kumar Tomar, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar. In his address Hon’ble Director Dr Tomar conveyed his wishes to SRRC on its 58th foundation day & appreciated the efforts taken by team SRRC in conducting this training series and conveyed his wishes to the participants for a successful hands-on training. He also insisted the scientists of SRRC to reach many more farmers with similar efforts as foundation day message. Dr. P. Thirumurugan, Officer Incharge, SRRC, Mannavanur welcomed & oriented the trainees about the SRRC’s history, its scientific contribution to the farming community and thanked Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI for his continuous encouragement and support. All staff & employees of SRRC along with the trainees celebrated  the 58th foundation day of SRRC, Mannavanur on 16.11.2022.

 All the facets of rabbit production management viz., feeding, breeding, health, shelter, marketing & other aspects of the management were updated to the trainees in the theory sessions and all the practical sessions viz., rabbit handling, restraining, sexing breeding techniques, pregnancy diagnosis, broiler rabbit slaughter techniques & primal cuts, post mortem examination, nest-box management, record keeping and drug administration were taught in Hands-on” manner. Dr. D. Anandha Prakash Singh, Prof.  & Head, Dept. of LPM, Veterinary College & Research Institute, Theni delivered an invited guest lecture about broiler rabbit management on 16.11.2022 and Dr. A. S. Rajendiran, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar delivered an invited lecture online. Both Dr. Rajendiran & Dr. Singh interacted well with the participants and addressed their queries related to scientific broiler rabbitry. Superior rabbit germplasm were distributed to the trainees.

Valedictory session of the program was held on 18.11.2022. Dr. P. Thirumurugan, Officer Incharge, SRRC, Mannavanur chaired the event and evaluated the participants on the knowledge update after training which was found good. He also obtained their feedback on the training program which was highly satisfactory. Dr. Thirumurugan gave away the participation certificates to the trainees and Dr. S. Jegaveera Pandian, Sr. Scientist & Dr G. Nagarajan, Pr. Scientist, SRRC well organized the program and presented the training report as coordinators of the training program. Dr. Pachaiyappan K, Scientist & Mr. G. Murali, STO, SRRC, co-coordinated the training program.
