BackTraining programme on Rabbit Rearing Technology

 Two training programmes on “Rabbit Production Technology” were conducted by the division of Transfer of Technology and Social Sciences from 20-24 January 2014, and 10-14 February 2014 at CSWRI Avikanagar, in which a total of 38 tribal farmers and 3 veterinary officers from Udaipur, Rajasthan participated and benefited from the programme. The trainings were sponsored by the Joint Director, Animal Husbandry, Udaipur, Rajasthan. Udaipur is one of those five districts of Rajasthan (Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Sirohi) which has been recognized as tribal area by Department of Tribal Affairs, Rajasthan. The participants were imparted training on all aspects of rabbit rearing with more emphasis on practical sessions along with live demonstrations on various aspects of rabbitry management at the institute. Farmers were provided with a tagging kit each and farmer friendly literature to start their own rabbit enterprise. Earlier two similar training programmes were conducted for Udaipur tribal farmers in which 46 farmers participated. In recent years, interest in broiler rabbit rearing has been generated in the tribal belt of Rajasthan.
